The Berkeley Dress Show 2011

London, 7th March 2011

The Berkeley Dress Show 2011 in support of The Children’s Trust took place at the Berkeley Hotel on 7th March - in the presence of HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia.

The revival of the traditional charity event was organised by the London Season’s chairman Jennie Hallam-Peel and Patricia Woodall.

The London Season invited Lukas Kroulik back as Creative Director for the second year running, responsible for iconic charity events including the Berkeley Dress Show and Queen Charlotte’s Ball. Commending his special creative organizing skills, the Season’s Chairman, Jennie Hallam-Peel, said that Lukas designed and produced “the best Berkeley Dress Show in the past ten years”.

Lukas Kroulik - Thank you speech

The 2011 debutantes modelled the latest collection by Hanna Marie Hutchison of HMH Couture. Lukas selected HMH Couture’s Grecian-styled collection of full length silk jersey gowns and cocktail dresses as they are highly contemporary – and chosen by Cheryl Cole for her X-Factor role and by many other celebrities – while representing the timeless elegance of the London Season. All the guests were simply thrilled with her designs. Hanna Marie Hutchison was quoted as “New Brit talent” by the Sun newspaper.

The hair and make-up was designed by Mary-Lynn Ozone from the London College of Fashion who was also the lead artist for the Berkeley Dress Show 2011 and lead seven very talented young make-up artists and hair stylists who made all the debutantes glamorous with reflection on the latest fashion and beauty trends.

This year, Lukas invited the Angel of the North – Isabel, a renowned 12 year old chorister – to sing at the Berkeley Dress Show. Managed by Aled Jones, Isabel became the world’s first choirgirl to sign a global record deal. Isabel opened the show with her version of “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square”. And to make the show much more exciting an award-winning magician Jakub, who is winner of the Czech championship for Modern Magic on Stage demonstrated his talent by levitating a table in the air in the middle of the ballroom with full audience participation.  All the guests had the opportunity to see the magic close-up – performed just in front of them.
